Upon first opening my jar of Night Terror, the most distinct feature was the volume of flower incased.  The flower came all the way up to the lid, a first in all of the UT medical cannabis flower I have reviewed.  Not to confuse quantity with quality, but there is something satisfying about a jar packed with fresh herb.

The Night Terror buds are a change of pace from the tightly packed, dense cannabis that has been prevalent on the Green Scene, as these buds have more actual “flower” characteristics.  The green calyx fan out wider, are on the hollow side comparatively, and are less tightly packed together, making the bud soft to the touch.  Green is the theme here, with muted orange pistils and occasional purple tips.

The freshness of this bud is evident in its pliability.  Tryke added a climate control pack to this jar with to positive results.  Night Terror grinds up fluffy, so grind and pack accordingly. In a way, this flower reminded me of old school chronic, but with more cannabinoids present on the flower, which brings it into the modern era.

A berry diesel dominates the Night Terror and a slight pine note comes through after the exhale. The berry seems to fade to the domination of the diesel when the buds are ground.  An XL size inhale brings out the depths of the diesel sour, so watch yourself.  The overall terpene profile is pleasing, though admittedly not as unique as some others I recently sampled.

Testing at 17% THC, Night Terror sits in the middle potency range for Utah medical cannabis.  I found its effects to be in line with that classification.  This could be a great strain for those who are timid about cannabis flower with THC percentages in the teens, or who have had bad experiences and need a way to ease back into the flower power. For me, it is not a heavy hitting strain that will immediately end my day, rather, it’s a strain that can get you great results by layering it through the evening and allowing it to slowly build.

As you layer the Night Terror into your evening, you will find it begins unlayering you.  A stoney head is complimented by a general feeling of relaxation and, at higher doses, with relaxing physical effects.  Is it too obvious to say that this Indica heavy strain is a good way to end an evening?
