When I review a strain, the first thing that usually catches my attention is the smell of the herb. This flower is loud, but another unique characteristic unexpectedly took over my five senses.

Once I actually handled this flower, my interest was immediately peaked by the memory-foam like texture. If I pressed it between the jar and my thumb, I think I could have left my fingerprint in it.

While breaking the bud, I literally pealed it apart – making a slight crinkle of crackling cannabinoids as the flower tore apart. Truly packed with all sorts of cannabinoid goodness, Grape Animals, is a strain that we all hope becomes a staple product in Utah pharmacies.

Brought to you by the Dragonfly Grow team, this flavorful strain is a cross between Grape Pie and the wild Animal Cookies. The aroma of berry dank found in Grape Animals likely comes from the Grape Pie lineage, while its ability to melt away a day of conference calls hails from the Animal Cookies. The High Times Gold quality experience of Robert Allen is apparent in all aspects of this flower and excited he’s brought his talents to the Beehive state.

Beginning with the nose, Grape Animals is equipped with a berry dank that sits up front. Some nice floral weed can also be found, red eyed, in the backseat. Grinding up the buds opens the aromas, making it easier to find the weediness amongst the berries.

The berry dank nose of Grape Animals is not a one-hit wonder. It comes back around on the exhale to leave you with a pleasant floral palette. The resulting exhaled vapors are virtually free of smell, making this a strain befitting any sleuth. I also found that the inhale stayed smooth and didn’t have any unexpected pops, flashes, or heat flares.

Another observation I made, and another testament to the quality of this product, was that the resulting ash still held the original shape in the bowl. To me, this was a sign that the product had been cured properly, allowing the heat to move smoothly through the bowl. The clean and thorough vaporization of the molecules leaving behind a statue of what was before.

Grape Animals carries physical and mental relaxing qualities, making it an obvious choice for someone who wants a versatile strain for afternoon or evening use.  I was able to feel relief from nausea symptoms with this strain, even when the nausea was a result of a couple causes. I also felt quite sleepy about 1.5 hours after evening consumption, making me believe this could be a helpful strain for those with occasional sleep issues.

Last, and most certainly not least – the appearance of this medicine!  I found this strain best viewed in evening light. The bronze calyx really start to shine as light is reflected off the abundant trichome coating. Lilac tips cover around a third of the pistils, the rest are a bright green, becoming slightly darker toward the stem. A nice rainbow slaw results once this flower is ground.  For me, this is where the lilac highlights really came out and I found it quite a pleasant picture.

If you haven’t already gathered, I’ll be filing my jar with this craft-choice again in the future.
