Medical cannabis has not always been my specialty in medicine. I was educated at the University of Utah and have spent the last five years in Surgery, trauma, and emergency medicine. My background was in contributing to the opioid epidemic, now I’m involved in fighting it. As all medical providers who know anything about cannabis, it’s from self-education and listening to patients say, over-and-over, how much cannabis has helped them feel better, reduce other medications, and corroborating that with research that has been done all over the world.
Now I teach both patients and medical students the benefits and risks of medical cannabis. At my clinic UtahMarijuana.org we help people find safe ways to reduce narcotic use and reduce all sorts of harmful medications. I’ve turned my focus to holistic medicine to help people with real problems and conditions.
Here at Salt Baked City, I hope to be a source for readers to find answers to specific and personal questions related to cannabis. Go ahead and reach out to us with any questions you have. I’ll try my level best to find an answer that will point you in the right direction. And I’ll give you a flare of opinion to go along with it.
Of course, my column won’t be able to replace true, personal, medical advice. But it will be fun to share ideas with you from the point of view of the medical standpoint. And we can learn what’s new together.
Look for me to provide resourceful articles about treating qualifying conditions in Utah. I will talk about what strains and methods of delivery help with nerve pain or why terpenes added to concentrates help with symptoms of inflammation. I will also discuss Minor cannabinoids, like CBC, CBB, CBN, and CBG, and how new research mapping strains is guiding research here in Utah.
Just like 4/20 brings people together, we need to come together as citizens to keep ourselves sane during this crazy time. And work together to promote the safe and effective use of cannabis within Utah, expand the qualifying conditions, and protect the rights of workers who utilize it for the right reasons. Reach out with your medical questions about the endocannabinoid system, new research, and let’s see what we find together!
